Cotswolds Visitor Guide

The Cotswolds are a range of hills covering 25 miles across and 90 miles long located in southwestern and west-central England. The area has been designated as the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Predominantly the Cotswolds lie within the counties of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire but also stretch into Wiltshire, Somerset, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. It is one of the countries favourite destinations with hundreds of limestone villages set in beautiful countryside.

Birdland Park & Gardens

Birdland Park & Gardens located in Bourton-On-The-Water is a wildlife park that opened in 1957, it later moved to its current location in 1989.

The park covers 7 acres of woodland, pond, gardens and the river Windrush, 500 birds call the park home and there are more than 50 aviaries.

Westonbirt, The National Arboretum

Westonbirt, The National Arboretum is based near the Cotswolds market town of Tetbury in Gloucestershire. It is an important international tree and shrub collection consisting of 16,000 trees which come from Britain, China, North America, Japan, Chile and other temperate climates.

There are 17 miles of accessible paths, it is perfect for children to explore and adults to learn through guided walks and workshops. 350,000 people visit Westonbirt each year, some of the most popular events are the Enchanted Christmas illuminated trail, Treefest and the Live Music concerts programme.

Corinium Museum

The Corinium Museum opened in 1938 and is located in the Cotswold town of Cirencester, the museum houses material from the Neolithic through to Victorian times but the bulk of the exhibits are from the Roman town of Corinium Dobunnorum. The museum is famous for its Roman mosaic floors and carvings.

You can take a look inside a Roman town house, enjoy the sight and smells of a Roman garden and experience what life was like as a Roman soldier.
